District Vision, above all, is rooted in friendship.
We’ve known each other for over twenty years. Back when we were teenagers living in London, we’d go for runs in the park to cure hangovers. Long runs and maybe even longer nights.
A decade later, we found ourselves in New York City, exploring new directions: one of us diving deeper into running, the other into meditation. We soon realized that runners were just as interested in training the mind as they were in building physical endurance. That insight sparked District Vision, which began as a series of workshops teaching meditation to runners. Our interest in running as a tool for self-exploration has taken many forms since.
We started designing and engineering products in Japan, inspired by a culture dedicated to excellence. Our sports eyewear system launched in December 2015, and we are proud to say that Japanese technology and craftsmanship remain central to everything we create. Over time, our vision expanded to include apparel and accessories—each piece driven by the same commitment to thoughtful sourcing and a soulful, purpose-led approach to design.
What began as a side project in a shared New York City office is now a growing, independent team based in California. We continue to run District Vision ourselves, without outside investors. For us, this independence is essential: it lets us stay true to our mission—developing the best solutions for mind and body, and supporting a more conscious, connected approach to living.
Peace,
Tom & Max
